The A-side features a live version of the track recorded at Challow Park Studios in Oxfordshire. Recording it live with full strings and brass was something we always wanted to do and it’s a really special version of the song. The B-side is the original album version.
The song:
This song was written in the wake of an unimaginable tragedy. In 2018, my son's best friend, Harriet Forster, was killed by falling rocks on Staithes Beach. She was just nine years old. I was fortunate never to experience anything like that at his age, and delivering the news to my son—who was also nine at the time—was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I was deeply worried about how it might shape the rest of his life.
Out of that heartbreak came a song we're incredibly proud of. For all the fun and experimentation we have with music, there’s something profoundly satisfying about a track that carries genuine, raw emotion. Your Car Has Arrived feels like it belongs among our best work.
Why the RNLI:
The RNLI were the first responders at the scene that day. This charity was chosen by Harriet’s mum. This just felt like something special to do with the track. It is of course still shameless self-promotion but it’s an excuse to hear it how god intended, on vinyl and, as we come into summer, to celebrate the great work done by the volunteers of the RNLI and highlight just how much the organisation relies on donations.
Key facts about the RNLI:
The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
All profits:
This means everything after recording, manufacture and shipping costs will go to the RNLI. We have tried to strike a balance between something nice to buy and keeping costs down: Friends have helped us make the live version and the manufacturer has been very kind with the costs for the vinyl. Our target is to make £1000 for the RNLI (we hope more) and that is achievable if we sell all 250 copies, and if a few people donate a bit more when they buy the record. Please feel free to pay loads more for the vinyl if you feel like it!!! Keep an eye on our social media and our website for updates on how many we have sold and thanks so much for supporting the release and the cause.
Lots of love
Henry & House. xx
